Suicide Prevention
We provide a range of educational packages related to suicide prevention, ranging from introduction to advanced practice, including a train the trainer package designed to be deliverable in your organisation.
The focus of the training is based on patient safety and developing therapeutic interventions when employing enhanced observations to reduce risk of harm to the person.

Phil has developed as a Change Agent over 35 years of practice, predominantly in the UK NHS. Phil has a background as a mental health nurse, working in a variety of setting to improve sustainable quality improvements in care.

Phil has developed as a Change Agent over 35 years of practice, predominantly in the UK NHS. Phil has a background as a mental health nurse, working in a variety of setting to improve sustainable quality improvements in care.
Phil has a passion to see service improvements that reduce risk of harm whilst also improving the experience of care delivery for patients and staff.
Phil has produced a significant portfolio of work, being involved in change projects as a lead for change from short term to longer term projects. Phil has worked to a national level as a project lead, as well as working on regional and local projects to improve an aspect of care.
Phil has identified through his experiences that change initiatives may struggle or falter when 'heart issues' associated with those will be the potential change adopters are not directly attended to. Furthermore there is a need for further support to the change leader or change agent to enable them to spearhead the change project and lead the team to a successful outcome.
PERSONAL BIO
Phil, our director and lead trainer, is married with one daughter, living in the North West of England. Phil is keen on walking and has a dog (Sandy) who makes sure that this happens at least once a day.
Phil is a keen sports person ( more watching than playing these days), mostly being involved with football and cricket in younger days. Phil is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa F.C.
Phil loves learning and taking on new challenges and is excited about this new chapter of his career. Phil has recently retired from working in the NHS full -time, dedicating more of his time now to support the change leaders ( Change Agents ) of the future to achieve important care outcomes for those who need their compassion and service. Phil has always enjoyed innovative new ways of working to challenge the way we do things and improve care for the most vulnerable people in our communities

Phil has developed an innovative model for change that has been proven in the practice arena, developed through learning and reflection that provides support for change agents directly as well as balancing the importance of addressing 'heart issues' integrated with more conventional change management principles for planning.
Phil has also developed innovation in clinical care utilising skills from solution focussed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and narrative therapy leading to the development of a group format for patients with treatment resistant depressive disorder.
Phil has a passion for innovation to improve care for vulnerable patients who may otherwise fall through the gaps in service provision.
Phil has more recently completed a large body of work related to supporting non- mental health professionals to fulfil duty of care with respect to people who are vulnerable to act of thoughts to self harm or consider suicide.
Phil has recently taken on a role within NHS England Health & Justice Team to act as a clinical reviewer, developing a deeper understanding of forensic mental health care within a prison setting.
Phil has an appreciation of change from the perspective of the lead role as Change Agent, as well as being involved as an innovator and adopter of change projects. Phil has been the lead in the following change projects:

Phil utilised innovative techniques to achieve success that has been incorporated into the Heart4Change© model. Phil also has developed skills in mentorship and coaching to develop the change projects to completion with those who have become the adopters of change.
Phil has a desire to support the change agents for the future to utilise a proven model for change as well as receive support that addressing both emotional and intellectual impact of leading change.
Phil has developed organisational policy and strategy to energise others to the need for change through educational developments. As an experienced registered nurse tutor and health teacher, Phil has developed education from teaching for care support workers through to Masters Level module development at the University of Birmingham for senior nursing AHP or medical colleagues. All educational products are developed to a high standard using a range of interactive methods of delivery from online to face to face teaching.
